Inspiring young Queenslanders to work and find success in the tourism industry

Lauren Smith


Lauren began her career in 2014 studying tourism and event management at Flinders University and developed a strong passion for destination marketing and showcasing Australia’s unique locations.

Lauren’s first role in the tourism industry was with Groovy Grape Tours in Adelaide, promoting a variety of small group tours to the backpacker markets. Lauren then took up a role with the South Australian Tourism Commission as Digital Content Coordinator, working within the corporate team to create content for social media, websites, eDM and everything in-between.    A move to Queensland in 2021 saw Lauren become the Events Manager for a local distillery, before becoming the Destination Marketing Coordinator for Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism where she created content and managed consumer facing channels to promote the Moreton Bay region.

Lauren is now a Creative and Content Specialist at Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) where she manages content creation for TEQ’s channels, video and photoshoot production for consumer and trade audiences, creates content for eDMs and looks after the branding for aviation partnerships.
