Fraser Coast

Since high school, Katie's career has taken a big turn. She started by learning technical skills as an auto electrician and mechanic. Later, she worked on tourist boats in Hervey Bay, Australia's whale watching hotspot.

At Hervey Bay Boat Club Adventure Cruises, Katie started as a deckhand, where she did maintenance, fixed machines, and made sure everything was safe. With training in maritime operations and becoming a certified diver, she moved up to the role of skipper.

Now, she takes people on tours to see dolphins, whales, and beautiful sunsets around K’gari. She showcases the area’s history and educates schools and visitors about whales, dolphins and other wildlife. She also trains crew members in safety protocols and operational procedures of vessels and creates marketing footage to promote tourism experiences.

Katie loves the marine life and natural wonders of the Fraser Coast region. Her job in tourism lets her share these wonders with people from all over the world, making their visits unforgettable.
