After high school, Emily studied a Bachelor of Business with a double major in tourism and sports management. She got her first taste of the industry through an internship with the V8 Supercars event manager. Later, she worked for Jetstar as a Customer Service Officer/Ground Crew.
Once she finished her studies, Emily joined Minor Hotels, starting as Front Office Supervisor in Townsville and working in different hotels in Brisbane. She was promoted to National Groups, Events, and Sales Support Team Leader, handling group travel and events for more than 60 hotels across Australia and New Zealand.
In 2023, Emily switched to destination marketing, taking on the role of Membership and Event Services Advisor (Tourism, Business, and Major Events) at the Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA). In this role, she leads travel, tradeshows, and events, manages familiarisation programs, coordinates membership campaigns, and supports BEDA’s members with marketing and business development opportunities.
