With an education from both China and Australia, Weiqing brings an international perspective to his tourism role in Far North Queensland. Weiqing moved to Queensland to undertake postgraduate study at James Cook University and then joined Holiday Au Pty Ltd in Cairns as an operating officer and marketing specialist. As an Approved Destination Status Tour Guide, he planned tailored tours and developed new marketing strategies to provide high quality tourism experiences to visitors from China.

Weiqing then moved to the Cairns Colonial Club Resort and Palm Royale to the role of Sales Promotion Executive Officer – Asian Market, where he developed marketing strategies, conducted sales trips with inbound operators and promoted the hotel at global trade shows.

This experience has led Weiqing to the exciting role of Hotel Manager at the Comfort Inn Cairns City where he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the hotel which includes overseeing service standards, productivity, finance, promotional activities and managing staff.

Weiqing enjoys working in tourism as he gets to promote attractions in the region to domestic and international visitors and provide them with unforgettable travel experiences.

After initially studying a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Arts in China, Weiqing moved to Australia and began his tourism career as a tour guide while undertaking a Master of Business Administration at James Cook University. With diverse experience in marketing tourism experiences and hotels to international markets, Weiqing has now moved into hotel management overseeing the day-to-day operations of a hotel in Cairns.
