Samantha’s career affords her the opportunity to spend her days on the Great Barrier Reef educating students and visitors on this unique natural environment and tailoring unforgettable experiences for them.
Earning her degree in marine biology allowed Samantha to follow her dream of being around the water every day. After university, Samantha joined the tourism industry as an activity guide at Green Island Resort where her job entailed giving information presentations to guests and engaging them in activities including nature walks, fish feeding and star gazing.
Samantha then joined Great Adventures where she spent six years educating up to 150 guests a day on the Great Barrier Reef, conducting reef presentations and running guided snorkelling tours.
In 2021, Samantha moved to the role of education manager for Experience Co (GBR Biology) where she oversees the reef education program. This entails delivering immersive education programs to the Great Barrier Reef which are aligned to the Australian curriculum, enhancing hands-on reef education and research and developing opportunities for students to participate in ongoing field research projects and citizen science. Samantha co-manages a team of marine biologists and Indigenous education rangers, builds relationships with schools, and markets Experience Co and GBR Biology as a leader in reef education.
Samantha is a qualified teacher, dive master and master reef guide and was selected to be part of Tourism Australia’s international marketing campaign titled ‘PhilAUSophy’ in 2019.
