With a background in creative industries, major festivals, events and destination management, Luke enjoys showcasing the many experiences, stories and First Nations culture in his region.
Luke began his career with formal qualifications in technical production and events, local government administration and event management. His first role after high school was as the first production and events trainee with the Redlands Performing Arts Centre where he spent five years across the roles of front of house coordinator and operations manager. Luke also gained experience in events where he was responsible for developing the centre’s artistic performance and events programs. He led a team that delivered around 300 events a year, attracting 100,000 people. Luke also oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Centre.
In 2017, Luke secured his current role of Service Manager for Tourism and Events at Redland City Council. He leads the development of tourism strategies and destination marketing campaigns, delivery of the Council’s major festivals and events program and oversees the operations of the Redlands Coast Visitor Information Centre. Luke is the deputy chair of the Redlands Coast’s Tourism Subcommittee and regularly presents at industry forums and workshops to support and provide advice to local tourism businesses.
Luke actively demonstrates the important synergy and interconnection that tourism and events provide in generating economic, cultural and social benefits within the region.
