Inspiring young Queenslanders to work and find success in the tourism industry

Joshua Wicks

Brisbane

Joshua has built a highly successful career in a diverse range of management, marketing and commercial roles in tourism businesses in Queensland and the United Kingdom.

While studying a degree in business, Joshua dived into digital marketing and then joined Riverlife, a leading Brisbane tourism and events business. Riverlife provides adventure and cultural experiences, and operates the Northshore Harbour café, function and events hub. Starting with Riverlife as the events marketing manager, Joshua worked across all facets of the business to become the general manager, responsible for strategy development, maximising the customer experience and overseeing day-to-day operations.

Keen for a new challenge, Joshua moved to London and continued to build his career in tourism working in commercial roles for global event companies before moving to Top Deck Travel as global head of marketing.

Returning to Brisbane in 2018, Joshua joined Travello, a social network app which connects people around the world to share travel adventures and discover tourism experiences and events at travel destinations. Starting as the head of sales and partnerships, Joshua then moved into the acting head of marketing role in 2020 with the challenge of growing engagement levels in the community when travel came to a halt. In mid-2021, Joshua became the head of commercial, focused on creating long-term sustainable growth, marketing and business development and developing strategic partnerships.
