Jim has carved out an exciting career in hospitality management in the independent craft brewing industry.

For the past 10 years, Jim has worked in management roles at highly regarded craft beer bars and brewpubs. He has extensive experience across event planning and managing beer/food pairing events, launches, celebrations, weddings and corporate functions.

Jim’s career in brewing started as the venue manager in a regional area west of Brisbane where he opened a successful brewpub. Before opening, Jim established operations, formed policies and procedures, oversaw menus and recruited and trained staff.

His next move was to the Newstead Brewing Co, initially as the venue manager for one venue before becoming the general manager of hospitality operations at two of the company’s Brisbane venues. This involved overseeing operations of two large brewpubs, event planning and management, recruiting and training staff and implementing sustainable kitchen practices.

Jim joined Howards Smith Wharves in 2020 and is now the general manager of Felons Brewing Co and Felons Barrel Hall, two of Brisbane’s leading hospitality and music entertainment venues. Jim oversees all operations of a 1000 person brewpub, manages celebrations, corporate and music events, and is responsible for staff development and training.
