Emmagen is passionate about tourism, destination marketing and event management, and enjoys being an ambassador for the industry by promoting the exciting and diverse experiences available to visitors throughout the Rockhampton region.
Emmagen’s interest in pursuing a career in tourism was sparked when she was in Year 10 and secured a work experience opportunity with the Hilton International Cairns which turned into her first job. Having loved the experience in connecting with tourists in Cairns, she decided to study a Bachelor of International Hospitality and Tourism Management across The Australian and International Hotel School and the University of Queensland and, following graduation, worked her way up to being a Restaurant Supervisor at Rydges Brisbane.
After a short time in business events management, Emmagen moved to Central Queensland and her events experience resulted in her taking up a contract role with Australia’s largest beef expo – Beef Australia. Seeing 100,000 people visit Rockhampton over a one-week period reinforced Emmagen’s desire to continue to pursue a career in tourism and destination marketing.
Emmagen then took up the role of Tourism Marketing Officer at Rockhampton Regional Council which entailed the management of the Explore Rockhampton brand through digital and social media channels, implementation of the annual marketing campaign calendar and providing support to the region’s tourism operators. Emmagen is now back with Beef Australia as its Marketing and Communications Manager where she is focused on the development and implementation of the triennial event’s marketing and communications strategy in the lead-up to the 2024 event.
