Inspiring young Queenslanders to work and find success in the tourism industry

Emmagen Mula

Rockhampton

Emmagen is passionate about tourism, destination marketing and event management. She enjoys being an ambassador for the industry by promoting the diverse experiences available to visitors throughout the Rockhampton region.

Emmagen’s interest in pursuing a career in tourism was sparked when she was in Year 10 and secured a work experience opportunity with the Hilton International Cairns, resulting in her first job. Having loved connecting with tourists in Cairns, she decided to study a Bachelor of International Hospitality and Tourism Management across The Australian and International Hotel School and the University of Queensland. After graduating, Emmagen worked her way up to become a restaurant supervisor at Rydges Brisbane.

After a stint in business events management, Emmagen moved to Central Queensland where she took up a contract role with Australia’s largest beef expo – Beef Australia.  Seeing 100,000 people visit Rockhampton over a one-week period reinforced Emmagen’s desire to continue to pursue a career in tourism and destination marketing.

Emmagen then secured the role of tourism marketing officer at Rockhampton Regional Council, managing Explore Rockhampton brand through digital and social media channels, implementation of the annual marketing campaign calendar and providing support to the region’s tourism operators.  Emmagen is now back with Beef Australia as marketing and communications manager where she develops and implements the triennial event’s marketing and communications strategy in the lead-up to the 2024 event.
