Mackay Isaac Tourism
Liana’s passion for travel began at an early age during a school exchange program to Japan which inspired her to pursue studies in tourism through high school and at university. Her studies set the foundation for a career in tourism and Liana now has ten years in the industry both in Australia and overseas.
Following high school, Liana studied a Bachelor of Business with a major in international tourism and hotel management and a minor in event management. Her first role in the industry was with Con-X-ion Airport Transfers as the Business Development Manager which entailed managing marketing campaigns and developing new business partnerships.
Liana then moved to Tourism and Events Queensland initially in the role of Partnerships Specialist (Outback and Country Queensland) working with stakeholders in the outback region on destination marketing followed by a role as the Senior Advisor (International and Western Markets) with a focus on marketing strategies and the development of international projects.
In 2019, Liana took off overseas to explore new opportunities and spent the next two years in Canada on a working holiday in a variety of roles including bartender, guest services agent, reservations coordinator, administrator and receptionist.
Returning to Queensland in 2021, Liana is now the Tourism Development Officer for Mackay Isaac Tourism where she works closely with stakeholders and businesses to identify and develop new tourism products and experiences for the economic diversification of the region.
